In this article we will take a look at some skin disorders which could affect your cat, the symptoms of these conditions and what you can do about them

If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of your cat suffering then you should consult with your vet.

>> Vet secrets revealed. Check this out before going to the vet

Most cats are covered with a thick, protective fur. This makes it very hard to spot if a cat has a skin issues prior to it becoming a lot more serious. It is important to take time on a regular basis to examine your cat’s skin closely for anything that may be wrong.

Move your hand steadily over his body and explore the skin for any strange patches. If you find any, part the fur by brushing it slightly, so that you can see beneath the fur and have a better look at the skin. If you carry this out regularly and understand your cat’s body, you should notice any cat problems very quickly and help to prevent any undue suffering. You will learn to know what looks normal and what doesn’t.

Cheyletiellosis

Cheyletiellosis is a skin disorder in cats is caused by skin mites and is very contagious between cats as well as humans. In cats, the symptoms are itching and it usually results in heavy scaling and flaking of the skin, which is why Cheyletiellosis in cats is often referred to as walking dandruff . This particular condition is usually not deadly and can be easily treated with the correct medication as soon as the condition has been diagnosed and confirm.

Feline Alopecia

Alopecia is a skin disorder in cats that will cause hair loss due to endocrine disturbances, localized infections, or generalized illnesses. This can also be caused by stress. The cats symptoms included bald patches on the skin and can be accompanied by reddened or inflamed skin. Not a deadly skin disease, and with quick and correct treatment, the fur would in most occasions grow back.

While most skin conditions are cause by allergies to food and pesticides or bites, and can be easily managed and treated, early detection is still important. A short amount of time daily could stop any period of discomfort or pain to your cat later on.

Please see cats fleas and cat illnesses for related articles.

Learn how to recognize cat illnesses using only the knowledge of its symptoms. Read what are 7 the most common cat illnesses symptoms and make the best of it. Spot the symptoms in time and nip your cat illnesses in the bud.

Save your beloved cat from stress and pain and yourself from bills from your vet.

It is a big responsibility to posses a pet. As cat is not a toy you can not take it home only for having fun or just for cuddling. Cat’s health and safety are in your hands. As an owner you have the biggest influence on his life expectancy as well. That is why knowledge of cat illnesses symptoms is so important here. If you know them you have a great chance to nip the illness in the bud and the same safe your cat from suffering from it. By recognizing the illnesses symptoms correctly and in time and by reacting in the right way you may even safe your cat’s life. So be the responsible cat owner and read the common cat illnesses symptoms listed below. Make your cat feel safe and healthy with you.

1) Gastric/Digestive problems
If you notice your cat vomiting (and it has nothing in common with hairballs) or if your pet has a diarrhea, constipation or suffers from incontinence then you can be sure that there is something wrong with his stomach or bowels – or both of them. It is not normal for cat to vomit and either to have diarrhea and constipation. It is also not normal for cats to do not go outside or to their litter box for urinating or stooling because the biggest cats’ nature is their cleanliness. Be sure that these are the symptoms of some digestive problems.

2) Abnormalities connected with cat’s stool and/or urine
If you spot the blood trace in your cat’s stool and/or urine, different and strange smell, color and consistency and more or less urine than usually then this is a certain sign of an illness.

3) Strange manners, attitude different than usually
Be sure that it is not a good sign if your cat changes from being calm and nice to aggressive or withdrawn. If your cat has not his normal energy, is hiding and instead of spending his time in his favorite way laying on top of things he prefers staying on the floor most of his time. When the behaviour of your cat is out of ordinary it is a red light for you.

4) Butter fingers behavior – disorientation
Every type of disorientation belongs to the common cat illnesses symptoms. When you see your cat being a little bit confused, stumbling and falling during walking or falling trying to jump somewhere then remember to do not ignore it. The butter fingers behavior is not a good sign and if you do not react in time to check the root cause and treat it then you will observe your cat getting only worse.

5) Abnormalities connected with cat’s drinking and eating
Any changes in eating or drinking maybe a disease symptom as well. Your cat loses his appetite, does not drink a lot or drinks much more than usually. Check what illnesses corresponding to these symptoms and treat your cat as soon as possible Do you know that for example any increase in thirst may be a kidney infection sign. Do not overlook and do not disregard them.

6) Anomalous connected with cat’s fur and body
First of all when you see flaking skin, hair falling out more than normal or dull coat – check it. These are some serious cat illnesses symptoms. Second if your cat lick herself so much that she has bald areas – check it as well as it maybe a fleas symptom. Others like discharge coming from the nose and eyes or the third eyelid visible with cat’s eyes being wide opened are also significant symptoms of some illnesses and need to be checked and eliminated quickly. These maybe signs of sinus infection or an allergy.

7) Your cat become untouchable
If your cat has been injured or has an infection on a part of his body then be sure that he will not allow you to be touched on this particular part. It’s an alarm signal for you!

These are 7 the most common cat illnesses symptoms. If you have had a cat I am sure you have already met some of these symptoms with him. And if you are a fresh cat owner you will see some of these diseases sings with him sooner or later.

It is a part of life to be sick from time to time. It is as normal for pets as for people.

It is so obvious your cat will be meeting some healthy problems at least few times a year that possessing a medical book about cat illnesses is really worth of it for every cat owner.

In spite of consulting a vet every time you notice something strange going on with your cat you will: take your book, check what type of illnesses correspond to the symptoms you have noticed.

Read how to treat it at home, take an action and help your cat to recover

Do not fetch your vet every time your cat gets diarrhea – just check it out by yourself with the right e-book. Do it in time, at the beginning of an illness or even before it starts and take a chance to nip it still in the bud.

To achieve this I would like to recommend you a great e-bookand it is called Veterinary Secrets Revealed You will find there everything about cat illnesses symptoms, what illnesses do they correspond to and how to treat them at home. Some shedding of hair is necessary and normal; however other types of hair loss in cats need to seek medical attention. Your cat may lose its fur due to several possible causes such as glandular diseases, mites, fleas, ticks and allergies.

A very common reason for hair loss in cats is fleabite allergy. Since cats are allergic to fleabites, a single fleabite can produce prolonged and intense reaction.

Another parasite, mites, can also make cats to pull out their fur. Numerous species of mites can give rise to a condition known as mange, which can cause cats to chew themselves to get rid of itching.

Ringworm is also responsible for hair loss in cats particularly around ears, face and feet. Hair loss is seen in small patches and the skin becomes gray, dry and flaky. Very young kittens and long-haired cats are more prone to it.

Localized pain due to abscess can make the cats to lick frequently, which can lead to hair loss.

Food allergies are significantly responsible for the hair loss. Cats having an allergy to food ingredients may excessively itch and scratch their body, which can lead to eventual hair loss. Allergies to inhaled substances like pollen or dust mites can give rise to similar symptoms.

Psychogenic alopecia is another major reason for hair loss. Your cat may pull its fur due to some psychological factors such as anxiety, nervousness, stress or fear. This condition is very common, as cats are quite sensitive to their environment. If there is any change in their environment because of change in humidity level, food or exposure to other animal, then cats may develop allergic reactions in the skin.

As hair loss can affect the appearance as well as overall health of your cat, you need to seek veterinarian treatment for your cat. The veterinarian prescribes a variety of tests to detect exact cause of hair loss such as scotch tape impressions, fungal culture, skin scraping and skin biopsy. General health tests including complete blood count and hormone and organ function tests are also performed to determine chronic diseases. If physical cause is not found, then veterinarian tries to find out behavioral factors.

Treatment option is decided depending upon specific cause of hair loss. If hair loss is due to fleabite, then it can be treated with effective and safe flea preventives and inflammation due to bite can be treated using antihistamines or steroids. Infections by mites and ringworm can be treated with oral and topical medications. For diagnostic and treatment purpose, you can feed a hypoallergenic diet or trial treatment with anti-inflammatory medications.
Common Cat Diseases

Some common cat diseases are listed below:

Feline Panleukopenia: It is also known as feline distemper. In this disease, cat’s white blood cell count drops drastically. This condition can affect a cat’s immunity. As a result, cat becomes more susceptible to several infections. Its symptoms are loss of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting. It is a highly contagious viral disease, which is transmitted through human contact, contact with infected cats, paws, hair and food bowls.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP): In most cases, FIP is fatal to cats. This virus exists in two forms such as wet (involves abdominal fluid) and dry form (not involving abdominal fluid). Both forms of FIP may give rise to symptoms like lethargy, fever, diarrhea, vomiting and loss of appetite.

It may transmit during the catfights. Other possible causes for transmission of this disease are sharing of food, water bowls and contacting the urine, feces and saliva of an infected cat and from mother to kittens in the womb.

Parasites: Cats are infected by various types of parasites. External parasites such as fleas, ear mites are found on the skin or fur and in the ears. These parasites can cause sever itching. Some common intestinal parasites found in cats are hookworms, ringworms and tapeworms. Coccidia, living in the lining cells of cat’s intestine, can cause diarrhea, dehydration and even death, if left untreated.

Lower Urinary Tract Disease (LUTD): LUTD is a group of diseases associated with urinary system of the cat. It can cause pain, bleeding and increased urinating frequency. Some of the common symptoms of LUTD are frequent urination, blood in urine and inability to urinate. Other associated symptoms are decreased appetite, dehydration, vomiting, depression and even death.
